We had a very old furnace that used a lot of energy. We had a window unit airconditioner, but we had to move that in and out every summer and it only cooled the one bedroom.
"heat pump" is a concept I've heard of before (possibly because I'm originally Canadian and read a lot of North American publications) and I read the explanation in the link. They don't seem to be very common in the U.K., possibly because few houses have air-conditioning. It looks like a very neat and tidy installation though. I read your comment at the Icelandic Weather Report, and decided to visit you. You take lovely photos.
Thanks for the compliments on the photos. Air conditioning is not all that common here in Oregon either. But Sami is from Finland, so he finds the summer weather a bit hot. He really wanted the heat pump because it can do both heating and cooling.

I am awaiting to Sami's explanation. What is this for, I thought you had heating/aircon already?

Nice solution... but now, who will control the temp :)
Probably Sami. So you can be sure I will end up wearing shorts in the winter and sweaters in the summer inside the house.
